Why do airplanes fly so high? Wouldn't it be shorter if they flew at low altitude? I mean... Earth is round, so it's smaller radius, therefore smaller length.

How accurate can we get when measuring the speed of light? Wouldn't time be slower in one zone than another zone as the light travels, therefore make the measurements of it inconsistent?

If sound is from particle pressure and particles (in the air) are constantly moving, shouldn't we continuously hear some kind of static or are we evolved to ignore that like we ignore seeing blood vessels/spots in our vision?
