What's the longest a weapon has sat undisturbed before finally fulfilling its duty? I assume it's an explosive of some sort, but, perhaps a giant round boulder connected to a booby trap?

Were bank vaults ever particularly useful or were they always mostly for show? It's an interesting cost/benefit, either pay a guard to sit there at night or pay for a showy overly elaborate vault.

Military strategy question: What was the biggest factor that caused military tacticians to stop using double line standard type formations? Any interesting anecdotes about the transition period? I assume this has to do with the accuracy of weapons...
