I feel like i was being lied to in school about Lithuanian history. Its told to be as this once great place yet i hear no western historians ever talk about it. Why is that ?

Where were Red Army soldiers from its individual republics stationed and sent? Given that a lot of states inside the union were there against their will, i presume they were not kept at home.
