Mauryan Emperor Ashoka, was victorious after the Kalinga War. The casualties & hundreds of thousands of dead bodies he witnessed & the destruction in Kalinga moved him into a propagator of peace. Has a similar precedent ever happened to another Emperor/King in the aftermath of a war?
