I just read how researchers have successfully grown dates from 2000-year-old seeds recovered from an ancient fortress and caves in the Middle East. Using the same process, could they grow extinct plant species?

[Advice request] An anti-vax friend of mine saw that the FDA is fighting to avoid releasing the vaccine data for '55 years'. He sees it as The Red Flag (herring?), showing the FDA is hiding their nefarious deeds. The FDA's excuses (needed to review/redact) aren't convincing. What am I missing?
