How do deciduous trees know that it’s actually autumn and not just an extended cold snap in April or May and start changing color and dropping leaves?

We are able to catch the common cold year after year so does that mean that the viruses (rhinovirus and—to a lesser extent—Coronaviruses) mutate fast enough that we don’t ever develop full immunity to them analogous to influenza? If so, why isn’t the common cold much more severe?

We just found 7000 stars we never detected before within JUST 300 light years of us. Given that, how do we KNOW that we have accurately determined the amount of normal matter in the universe?? Could some of the mass we tag as dark matter just be stars too faint to see?

Why is it that when you take amphetamine (Adderall, Desoxyn, Vyvance, etc.) you not only have the energy but the DESIRE and focus to clean the whole house or finish a big project? Is it really just dopamine driving all of that?
