In stories about medieval times, we hear that a peasant would never be able to earn enough to get a gold piece. How accurate was this? And what could/should a lowly peasant buy with their income of coppers (and silvers?)

Did Ancient Romans and Greeks have the concept of racism, more specifically surrounding skin colour? Or was respect and decency just all about whether or not you had the coin and/or citizenship? Did they believe their "race" or people to be inherently superior than others?

Aside from guards, did dark age to medieval "countries" have any standing armies with structures like the Romans did before them, or would your peasants just be expected to have sufficient skill and perhaps weapons so they could be conscripted when you needed them?

Were soldiers substantially older in Roman legions compared to the average WW1&2 soldiere? Is it fair to assume that, due to differences in age that the relative "quality" of a Roman legion was a lot better?

How well trained were war and hunting dogs in the Roman Empire and/or medieval Europe compared to today & how did they train them assuming their knowledge & tools for dog training was much less than we have today?

I'm a depressed, Roman patrician. Who do I talk to? Were there any therapists? My physician, wife or family? Did society frown upon depression and similar psychological conditions because it doesn't conform with the idea of masculinity?
