My dad tells me that when making a high-speed turn (manual car) to lower the gear because there's less chance for the car to skid off. Is this because a higher RPM (and higher Rot. KE) will contribute to the centripetal force acting on the car? Does this fact by my dad bear any truth?

Imagine an airplane at regular speed and height. Now, if you replace the airplane with your body, would you feel cold or hot due to the friction? At what point would one feel hot, if any?
