The medical diagnosis of PTSD and/or trauma are recent, PTSD only being added to the DMV in 1980. Before this, how were flashbacks, triggers, and other aspects of trauma thought of? Why did people believe trauma happened? Wasn’t there a conception of trauma, even before it’s official recognition?
