Why do a lot of animals often just give up and let themselves die when they get badly injured or experience a lot of pain? Just because a tiger ripped open a deer’s leg shouldn’t be a reason for the deer to just give up and die, right?

If light allegedly bounces off of things and we see things by the light going into our eyes, how come we see things where they actually are rather than scattered all over the place due to the light rays bouncing all over the place?
