One vastly known deciphering success during world war 2 is the breaking of the enigma code (germany and axis power). What about the encrypted transmissions of UK, USA, Japan and USSR? Do those power employed encrypted radio transmission? Were those broken?

In world war 2, considering armoured confrontation (tanks, AT guns, tank destroyers, etc.), were more effective designs that combined mobility plus effective guns despite having less armor or designs that combined more armor plus effective/oversized guns despite having less mobility ?
