Did any Russian person who was alive for the whole lifespan of the Soviet Union, from the Revolution to the Fall, ever publish any retrospective or opinions on the matter?

The immediate aftermath of WW1 was a lot of revolutions and unrest. We typically attribute the cause of these to the war, but right at the same time, Spanish flu was killing 50 million people, more than the entire war. Did that play any significant role in all that unrest?

Ray Kroc, in 1954, said that "In my experience, hamburger joints are nothing but jukeboxes, pay phones, smoking rooms, and guys in leather jackets." He's saying these were seedy establishments, but what about those things (besides leather jackets) signaled shadiness?
