If humans colonize Mars, and everything that arrives from Earth goes through a germ sterilization process, will communicable diseases (such as cold and flu) be effectively eradicated there?

Because cats and dogs have more sensitive hearing, is a vacuum cleaner's noise comparable for them to the discomfort we humans would have if there was, say, a jet engine in the room?

If a large meteorite happened to hit earth right where you were standing, what would actually cause your death? Would you die from heat, or a shockwave that travels ahead of the meteor, or would it be from the actual impact of the meteor to your body?

Cats and dogs hate and are scared of the sound of vacuum cleaners. Because they have more sensitive hearing than humans, does a vacuum cleaner sound to them the equivalent level of noise of a jet engine in the house for us?
