I️ just learned via Planet Earth 2 that “in the last fifty years, 10 volcanic islands have been formed.” Does lava form at the same rate underwater as it does in air? Are islands constantly bubbling up at the same speed?

Many small animals – birds and rodents in particular – seem to only move in quick, jerky movements. Why is this, and are they capable of smoother, slower movement?
