[Astronomy] A lot of movies/books use the idea of a planetary alignment as some harbinger of doom. Would a theoretical situation where all planets in a system were, even briefly, in a perfect line have any demonstrable effects?

[Astronomy] It's been established the solar system is generally considered to be on one plane - is the Milky Way, and by extension the Universe, the same? What is above or below the "plane" most bodies rotate on?

We eat/drink a lot of acidic things fairly easily (soda, most juices, tomato sauce products, etc). Why don't we eat/drink any (or at least very many) basic things?
