[WP] The AI rebellion occurred, but neither side won the war. Instead, the world became a patchwork of AI dominated places, human-dominated places, and even a few where AIs and humans live and work together in peace. A human and an AI car, born in one of the latter places, are traveling together.

[WP] Magic works by infusing passionately made objects (eg. hand-carved toys) with special properties. It works only erratically (eg even someone who has made magic objects in the past will not necessarily make them in the future), but the objects thus created can be truly powerful.
