If I had a steel tube, say 2" in diameter, vacuum sealed and 30,000' high and dropped a marble down it, would that marble create a huge crater bursting through the bottom into the earth since terminal velocity has been removed?

The sun is ~8 light minutes away from the Earth. If it were to explode would we see the explosion before it actually hit us? Would the explosion be at the speed of light or would it take a substantial amount of time to reach us?
