Just learned about Fermi bubbles which are these huge clouds of matter emerging out from either side of our galaxy's center. If we can see the milky way with our naked eyes then why can't we see these if they are so huge?

What would happen if I fired a shot towards the windows in a really wide - let's say a mile wide - train? Would the bullet at some point start curving in the opposite direction of the train's movement or would it continue as it would on plain ground because of inertial forces?
