Dumb question, but how do I open the red ones? or is there no way to open these?

I have a lot of plat left, and I'm a beginner, what useful things can I buy besides warframe/weapon slots? I've already spent some plats on skins and two non-prime warframes (dumb decision, I know), besides the slots. Is saving these plats to buy prime warframes from other players a good idea?
