If we wanted to find lost things under the sea or frozen ice like buildings/animals etc, why dont we just use sonar scan?

Why can't we just do a sonar/thermal scan of the loch ness to find the "monster"?

If when we see far away stars/planets, we see them in a past state, is it then possible for very far away planets (with theoretically a powerful enough telescope) to see our planet full of dinosaurs? Like, would we not exist yet?
