ive never made kandi before and this is all i have available for beads and string because my family hasnt gotten me a proper set yet can i have a simple tutorial (sorry if this seems rude)

How do I figure out the right amount of string? I've tried 2 ladder cuffs and ran out of string on both and got frustrated because I couldn't add more string correctly and it kept undoing.
