TDIH August 2, 1864: The Battle of Mobile Bay started. In the early fall of 1864, Admiral David Farragut’s fleet attacked one of the last open Confederate ports. After one of his ships hit a torpedo in the bay, Admiral Farragut famously said, “ Damn the Torpedoes, full speed ahead.”

Demolished! Post-War Farmhouse at Slaughter Pen Farm Removed: Slaughter Pen Farm’s last modern structure, a postwar farmhouse, is now gone. Like most things with Slaughter Pen Farm, good things come to those who wait! On Friday, July 26, the demolition of the house began and today it's complete!
