Pop culture's Pacific War is mostly on Marines. While they certainly had some of the toughest assignments, the Army sent several times as many troops to the Pacific. Why is the Pacific shown as only being fought by the Marines and the Navy? Do the Army battles look too much like Vietnam?

In WWII many countries capitulated to the Axis powers, but former soldiers fled to places like the UK. These soldiers were rearmed and eventually sent back to fight on other fronts or to fight on their home turf. What would happen to these soldiers if captured by the Germans?

During WWII the British raised several deep behind the lines Commando raider type units, such as the SAS / SBS, LRDG, Commandos etc... while in the Pacific and Asia the US had some deep behind the lines units, why did the USA not follow suit of the British in Europe and Africa?
