Iron is determined to be the most stable element. If radiation causes atom to decay toward Iron and light elements fuse to be more Iron like, are we destined for a Universe entirely made of Iron atoms?

At Chernobyl one of the Mi-8 helicopters dumping sand into the reactor hit a crane cable and crashed. Could this conceivably been due to disorientation due to radiation exposure or just general pilot error? Or even mechanical issues due to radiation?
