The villain has killed God. They declare themself to be a god. All seems lost but they didn't count on one thing: the Devil showing up. Wrathful and insulted at this unworthy mortal for dirupting the balance without permission, then having the audacity to claim to be his new equal and opposite.

Humans have incantations. Songs they can't stop themselves from singing, sayings they must complete, images that convey more than can be explained. They have curses they place on each other. You dont understand what is so terrible about a set of lines or song but its deeply upset your human friend.
