Why is it that many cultures use the decimal system but a pattern in the names starts emerging from the number 20 instead of 10? (E.g. Twenty-one, Twenty-two, but Eleven, Twelve instead of Ten-one, Ten-two)?

How is it possible for our brain to wake us up around a certain time, no matter when we went to sleep the previous night? How does it know how much time has passed?

Did people care about archaeological sites in the past? I see a lot of houses in Italy from the 18th century that were built basically on top of archaeological sites. Plus from lots of old engravings even the Coliseum looked abandoned in mid 1700s. Did we not care about the past before 19th century?

[WP] The Moon is inhabited by another civilization and is so close to Earth that our ancestors could see each other through the lights of the cities built. We saw the wars fought on the Moon, we saw civilizations rise and fall. And over centuries, we looked for a way to communicate with each other.

Is it theoretically possible to trap a beam of light between two mirrors facing each other? If so, would the beam slowly fade away/disappear or would it keep bouncing forever?
