[WP] All animal life is now genetically modified to be totally sapient and civilized, without predator instinct, or totally unconscious. All meat comes from either naturally unconscious life or animals edited to never develop a nervous system, leaving them effectively cellulose-free plants.

[WP] We’ve finally solved the problem of predation. Every self-aware animal has had its predatory instincts and needs removed and been made sapient with fine motor skills, language capability, and good color vision. Those animals now used as meat are subspecies without nervous systems.
