[WP] After an apocalyptic-level event, humanity was nearly wiped out. Millenia later in an age of magic, creatures humans used to dream of now tell their kids scary stories about humans. The remaining handfulls of humans are tragically misunderstood, but still deadly enough to survive any threat.

[WP] Soon after the creation of the first digital computers, a random string of characters was discovered that, if input into any form of digital technology, would cause it to become self aware and gain intelligence proportional to its data capacity. Some idiot just entered it into the internet.

[WP] Humanity was able to survive the apocalypse because the zombies weren't really monsters, they were more akin to animals guided by strong herd-forming instincts created from leftover socialization impulses. And like animals with similar behaviors they could be herded and eventually domesticated.

[WP] Turns out that the reason why demons use possession instead of manifesting as deadly beasts and just killing people like the old days is because humanity's only supernatural ability is to integrate the abilities of any supernatural creature when we eat any part of their body, in any amount.
