[WP] It is the far future. Rampant consumerism has left the planet barren, with not enough resources to begin colonizing other planets. With the end of humanity closing in slowly, the last humans are sent to an underground bunker to be placed in stasis in a simulated reality until the end of time.

[WP] It is the future and artificial brains are a reality. A mind is being transferred into one, but the operation is deemed a failure and the artificial brain is thrown away, however, the transfer was a success and the mind is still active inside the thrown away artificial brain.
