[WP] Demon lords are in fact a necessity. They prevent the worlds destruction by channelling most of the worlds 'anam' (the corrupted equivalent of mana) into their bodies. After a few generations of successful heroes, things take a turn for the worse.

[WP] Whether by cruel fate, by the machinations of our own hubris or perhaps the whims of some malevolent deity all of humanity (except you) have mysteriously disappeared. As you come to this grim realisation a voice whispers in your ear "I curse you...I curse you to never die."

The last of their children were locked up. Forced to bear the sins of their forefathers they were cast upon a hell planet in an FTL dead zone at the cost of uncountable lives. All this to spare the universe from their horror- yet some Galactic overlord dared to step foot upon their world.
