In Europe it was common for monarchs and popes to have regnal numbers (ex Louis the 18th), while in China and Japan they were hardly if ever used. Is there a specific reason these countries monarchs rarely used regnal numbers?

During the Medieval period suits of armor were very valuable, often costing a small fortune to make. Given this information what were the customs for salvaging pieces of armor from dead knights after a battle was finished? How likely was it that a commoner could claim some pieces for themselves?

It’s generally agreed that disease’s introduced by Europeans had a massive effect on the Native Americans. However several hundred years earlier the Vikings made contact with the Natives during their settlement attempts. Why didn’t any diseases transfer between these groups the way they did later?

When visual aids of the D-Day beaches are given, they often portray multiple lines of obstacles like hedgehogs, barbed wire, bunkers, and various mines on the beaches that look difficult to overcome in just a day. Were all the beaches this heavily fortified or is this exaggerated?
