Alchemists were known for describing their works with secretive symbolism and terminology. Were alchemists persecuted for their beliefs and practices in medieval times to the degree that contemporary religions were?

[WP] A little girl. She feeds on chaos, but she conceals it. It's not like anyone would believe her anyway. Even if they did, they'd mistake her for a vampire, which she is not. When she feeds on a situation, she drains the source of the chaos, calming down the situation.
