[WP] To prevent humans from experiencing some future traumatic event (eg, meteor, global warming, whatever), the whole human race agrees to stop reproducing and let the human race die out, rather than try to prevent the event. There are now only 100 human beings are left on earth.

A seemingly unidentifiable falls from the sky. Upon further investigation, it's the voyager containing the golden record. Little to our knowledge, our entire universe has ended and begun again in the time it took for the voyager to make it back to us.
