[WP] An alien visits Earth. Not realizing humans are the dominant species, the alien encounters a homeless man/woman and mistakes them for a stray. He/She/They/It decides to "rescue" the homeless person and adopt them, bringing them back to their home world to be treated like a pet.

[WP] Humanity is what's known as an "orphaned species" created long ago by aliens in a failed experiment to create sapient life, or so they thought. Millenia later, aliens return to find humanity very much sapient and praying to long forgotten creators, like abandoned babes crying for their mothers.
