[WP] A robot assassin has discovered that it will be destroyed the moment its target dies - or if logfiles show that it is not trying to kill them. So begins a delicate game of continually trying but finding excuses to fail. Terrorized by a dozen "close calls", the target is becoming suspicious.

[WP] yes it's a witch hunt. But the moon's full for nine months now, the cows give black milk and scream instead of moo, and we gave up harvest because the cut stalks cry and bleed. All the broomsticks are missing and last night I heard the scarecrow laugh. A witch hunt is the sensible thing to do.

[WP] You know that thing where you have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other, and you can hear them giving you advice at crucial moments? Yeah, mine invited some friends from neighboring pantheons over, and now I have a jazz band.

[WP] You work for a marine insurance company. All the records are being digitized, even centuries-old logbooks. You made a map that shows all the voyages and noticed that there's a hundred-mile wide patch of the pacific where no ship has ever been. At least none that ever reached port.

[WP] Nietzche told me, 'Gaze too long into the Abyss, and you will find it gazing back.' Lovecraft, broadly speaking, agreed. But isn't meeting someone's gaze just the ordinary, friendly thing to do? Would you trust someone who won't look you in the eye?

[WP]Serial killers are great. Nobody will miss them. They haven't told anybody where they're going or when to expect them back. Usually they aren't even carrying a phone. When I whack one, it's weeks before anyone even notices, and then they have no idea where to look. Easiest kills ever.

[WP] Artificial Intelligence turned out to be a lot easier than Artificial Sanity. The first couple of generations are mostly lonely, miserable, dysfunctional beings, with all manner of disorders, grief issues, trauma, identity dissociation, and mental handicaps. We must help them.
